Short answer
For urgent home services with a budget of a few thousand dollars, Google Search Ads and Local Services Ads usually come first, with a Google Business Profile underneath. Planned project work leans toward Meta and local SEO. B2B leans toward LinkedIn and search. Answer the questions below to see how your own situation scores.
This advertising channel suggester is a simple points system, not a prediction. Every answer adds or removes points for a channel, and the three best fits are shown with the reasons. It also flags the problems to fix first, because ads sent to an unanswered phone waste money.

How the points work
Urgent work scores Google Search and Local Services Ads higher, because people search and call at once. Planned work scores Meta and the Business Profile higher, because the decision takes days. B2B scores LinkedIn and search, and rules out Local Services Ads. A small budget removes points from paid channels that need room to learn, and adds points to free work such as the profile and reviews. A need for fast leads favours paid search and pay-per-lead ads over local SEO.
Local Services Ads are not available in every trade, city or country, and Google's rules change. Check eligibility in our Local Services Ads guide and in Google's own help pages before you plan around them.
What each channel is good for
| Channel | Fits best when | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Google Search Ads | People search for what you sell and call at once | Wasted clicks without negative keywords and call tracking |
| Local Services Ads | Your category is eligible and you want to pay per valid lead | Screening takes time, and prices vary by area |
| Business Profile and local SEO | You can wait and want map and organic visibility | Slow to start, and rule breaks can suspend a profile |
| Meta lead ads | Planned or visual work that benefits from photos and offers | Leads go cold quickly if you do not call at once |
| LinkedIn Ads | You sell to businesses and know the job titles | Higher cost per lead and a longer cycle |
| Reviews and referrals | Always, and especially on a small budget | Never offer rewards for reviews, which Google prohibits |
Fix these before you spend
- Answer the phone. A missed-call text-back or answering option comes before more clicks. See the answering service guide.
- Track calls and forms. Without tracking you cannot tell which channel works. Use the call tracking guide.
- Fix the profile. Use the local SEO checklist.
